consumption:
- 180 million Web users in the United States are watching 44 billion videos each month.
- The online video consumption has exploded due to long form programming such as TV shows and movies.
- Premium content (professional video) is one of the biggest factors of time spent watching online video, but UGC (user generated content) videos are on the rise as well.
- YouTube dominates with 50% of video views followed by Vevo (music) and Hulu.
Video advertising consumption:
- When offered free viewing of content, consumers chose to watch online video ads as well as mobile advertising.
- The number of ads viewed in online video has doubled year over year, according to comScore's most recent data. In February, Americans watched 7.5 billion video ads online, up from 3.8 billion a year ago.
