Consumption of video across various devices

Why marketers need to be prepared for the shift in consumer consumption of video across all devices

The traffic of digital video is steadily shifting from PC-only to mobile phones, tablets, game consoles and connected TVs. Sorosh Tavakoli, CEO of ad management platform Videoplaza stated in his interview to Beet.TV that:

  • In 2010, 100% of Videoplaza traffic was delivered on PCs,
  • In the 4th quarter of 2011, over 8% of video ads occurred on other non PCs devices,
  • In 2013 non PC will outperform PC.
Tavakoli predicts, that non-PC video traffic growth will eventually outpace PC traffic this year, thus reflecting a major shift in consumer consumption of digital video across all devices. Therefore, marketers need to know how to target audience across multiple devices.

Videoplaza relaunched it's ad management platform named Karbon a couple of weeks ago, to be fully agnostic, which allows publishers sell and reach audiences across devices including PCs, IPTV, mobile phones, tablets, game consoles and connected TV's and integrate new devices as they emerge. Karbon allows marketers to target specific audiences across various devices. So far they have 7,000 devices listed in their database.
