User Generated Content viewership fell in 2011

Youtube captures majority of UGC 

Youtube captured 94% of user generated online video content in 2011.



According to a new report from AccuStream Research titled “Internet Video 2011-2014: View, Share, Site, and User Analytics” user generated content and video on social media networks represent the majority of online video viewings. Here is the summary of the report:

-       Online video views increased by 43% in 2011.
-       Time spent watching online video only accounts to 5% of total TV hours watched for the year.
-       User Generated Content distributed online made up 77.9% of total video views, while professionally made and distributed video made up 22.1%.
-       UCG views per unique user per month actually decreased 12.1% in 2011.
-       Youtube captured 94% of User Generated Content.
