Employee produced videos are more relevant than CEO produced content
73% say EGC increased their productivity. |
The recent project
- 2012 April Business Video Behavior Project, Qumu (business video
platform provider) looked at the
topic of Employee Generated Content (EGC). The results of the survey
demonstrate that EGC has a positive social and productive effect of the
enterprise – 73% say they have increased productivity to some degree. Here are the highlights of the study:
1. Attention grabbing. The study reveals
that EGC is the most interesting and attention grabbing. Even though CEO’s
produce most of the videos (51.4% produced by CEOs vs 13.5% produced by coworkers)
2. EGC Types. Most
popular types of EGC videos are: How-to (76%), communication from management
(49%), Town-hall meetings (42%).
3. Advantages of EGC. In
a survey of 240 managers and executives across a variety of disciplines they
found out that:
- 100% never seen an inappropriate video uploaded to the company network.
- 38% think they videos useful
- 35% are appropriate.
4. Concerns with EGC.
Managers also raised their concerns about EGC:
- 51% are concerned that employees will upload the irresponsible content to the company’s network
- 12% worry about irresponsible content from company parties.
