Short vs Long? What is important for viral success?
Can long videos go viral? |
With technology moving forward at a fast pace and the progression of online video, people are becoming more used to enjoying long-form content on the web. YouTube used to be a place for short videos, pranks and clips to go viral, but it's landscape is changing and the question remains - Must a video be super short (no longer than two minutes), especially if you want them to go viral? YouTube is actually pushing forward by offering movies and removing 10 minute limit and allowing 15 min on video uploads. So how does that affect the creation of content? That's how:
1. Length is not as important- engaging content is the key! Keeping the video short might help sharability and audience retention, but it's in no way a crucial element of successful video anymore.
2. The first 15 seconds is the most important element! Plan the first few seconds of your video very carefully. Set a high expectation, capture viewers' attention in the very beginning and engage them to stay for the content ahead.
