Mobile Video will increase to 42.4% by 2016 |
The rapid growth of smart phones, 3G and 4G networks and
user comfort with using web on their mobile will drive a sharp rise in
multimedia streaming on mobile.
Emarketer estimates that about a quarter (25.2%) of mobile customers
access video on their handsets and it will increase to 42.4% in 2016. That
means that streaming video on mobile will be touching 110 million of all
Americans while currently about 61 million are seeing video on handsets.
But video is not the only medium that is going to explode on
smartphones. eMarketer also projects that mobile music licenses will triple by
2016 to 81.3 million. And social networking will migrate to handsets - by 2016, 42.6%
of mobile phone owners will be social networking by phone.
