According to a March 2012 report from ContentWise and the Custom Content Council,
North American marketers spent $40.2 billion to produce and distribute content
marketing in 2011.
- Print garnered $23.6 billion (58.7%) of all budgets in 2011.
- Electronic content formats (websites and email) garnered $11.4 billion. One area of opportunity for website updates and growth is mobile. As US consumers continue to adopt smartphones and tablets at a rapid rate, mobile website traffic is bound to increase.
- Other forms of content marketing (events and video) - garnered $5.2 billion. 54% of surveyed companies are planning to invest into video in 2012.
